  About the "Proposición" Project
 

 

Origins:

The "Proposición" Project was born on November 10, 1999 as an initiative of some members of the GrULiC with the objective of promoting government's use of Open Technologies [1].

This initiative strongly drew inspiration from:

The name "Proposición" was selected to honour the above mentioned French bill.

Members:

Currently, the total number of members is 220 people, distributed all across Latin America and, to a lesser degree, in the USA and Europe. These members use the proposicion mailing list as a communication channel to exchange information and coordinate activities. Some of those activities include:

  • to devise and promote legislative bills for the use of Free Software in the government;
  • to advise legislators and government agencies;
  • to diffuse (articles, presentations, internet newsgroups, etc...);
  • to engace in advocacy;
  • to counteract to FUD;
  • to participate in project implementation involving open technologies;
  • to compile information.
